Job Context:
  • The Medical Assistant is responsible to Provide good quality inpatient and outpatient consultations,
  • Terre des hommes Foundation (Tdh) is an international non-profit voluntary organization working in Bangladesh since 1974. Its delegation office is located in Dhaka. The Medical Assistant is to be based in Teknaf where Tdh planning to engage to help the displaced people came from Myanmar. The Medical Assistant provides supports to direct supervisors.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Do outpatient consultations and prescribe medications in mobile and static clinics in camps according to MOH protocols
  • Keep patients and/or care-takers informed of their illness, treatment implications, follow-ups required
  • Identify too sick patients for referral and write referral slips, and communicate to nursing activity managers for follow-up
  • Follow-up transferred patients evolutions with regular interactions with doctors in other NGO or GO inpatient facilities around the camps
  • Check and control rational distribution of medicines from the pharmacy
  • Ensure hygiene standards and universal precautions are observed during patients examinations, and all other clinic activities
  • Monitor proper functioning of diagnostic support materials/apparatus
  • Tally epidemiological data at the end of each-day consultations based on templates provided; and check their validity; and handover-daily to data encoder
  • Ensure interdisciplinary meetings are ongoing with other medical doctors, nurses, midwives, and nutrition personnel
  • Assessing training needs of field staff
  • Designing, preparing, implementing and following up trainings/workshops for all nutrition intervention team members.
  • Supporting senior staff in conducting in-house trainings
  • Participating in and assisting with trainings conducted by external facilitators.
  • Ensure on-job training of medical and paramedical staff working with him/her in the same location
  • Supervises nurses, midwives, pharmacists and nutrition assistants working in the same locations with him/her
  • Daily phone updates and weekly written reports to immediate supervisor
  • Ensures patient confidentiality at all times

Educational Requirements
  • Secondary School Medical Diploma (3 Years)

Experience Requirements
  • At least 1 year(s)
  • The applicants should have experience in the following area(s):
    Nurse, Paramedics, Nutritionist, Medical Assistant
  • The applicants should have experience in the following business area(s):
    NGO

Additional Requirements
  • Both males and females are allowed to apply
  • Prior Work Experience: One year experience in similar or related positions
  • Knowledge or experience in carrying out peadiatric Consultation
  • IMCI trained or knowledge
  • Able to carryout pediatric triage
  • Able to carryout epidemiological analysis on data and use it to improve services
  • Good English level (reading, writing and speaking)

  • Able to work with children and mothers
  • Compassionate
  • Communication skills
  • Felxible, reliable , able to work in a quickly changing environment
  • Skills and Abilities: Organized, discreet, and people oriented. Possess strong communication skills (both oral and written)
  • Language Proficiency: Chittagonian language skills are Mandatory. English language proficiency is advantageous
