Job Context
  • The MA/Paramedic is a member of the IRC health team and will be responsible for supporting the implementation of the IRCs Primary healthcare activities in the Rohingya Refugee Camp, (S)He will ensure the delivery of high quality Emergency Maternal healthcare activities including child health and sexual and reproductive healthcare services.
  • Under the supervision of the Medical Doctor and in-conjunction with other healthcare staff, the MA/Paramedic will be responsible for the delivery of SRH sevices.
  • a. Apply knowledge and skills to manage emergency maternal and neonatal healthcare problems, ensuring appropriate patient triage and detection of obstetric emergencies.
  • b. Provide health promotion and counselling to patients and caregivers.
  • c. Ensure Child and maternal reproductive healthcare services are implemented in conformity with relevant Ministry of health or international guidelines.
  • d. Ensure timely and accurate recording of patient information and consultations in relevant patient registers and facilitate the timely submission of require health reports.

  • Duration: Up to February 29, 2020 (with possibility of Extension subject to funding, program needs and performance of incumbent)
Job Responsibilities
  • Clinical care
  • Mentor midwives in the BEmONC center on the following areas of SRH:
  • Perform normal deliveries.
  • Perform MVA, Breech and Multiple deliveries.
  • Provide neonatal care.
  • Counselling and provision of Family Planning
  • Clinical Care for Sexual Assault Survivors
  • Syndromic treatment of STIs
  • Post abortion Care
  • Menstrual regulation
  • ANC and PNC
  • Provision of basic first aid for intimate partner violence.
  • Provide direct clinical care, working closely with the other clinical staff to ensure the delivery of high quality emergency Maternal and Child healthcare services.
  • Delivery of hygiene promotion, health education and patient/care giver counselling.
  • Ensure adherence to infection prevention and control measures.
  • Ensure BEmONC Center is appropriately stocked with essential equipment and supplies.
  • Ensure patient confidentiality is respected, and that all consultations are conducted in a dignified and respectful manner.
  • Prepare daily work plans in coordination with the Medical Doctor.
  • Ensure that the health program is implemented in line with the IRC principles: promoting and protecting rights, participation, capacity building, partnership and holistic programming.
  • Work closely with other IRC programs present in the same location, such as Women's Protection and Empowerment, Integrated Community Case Management, and integrate program components to the extent possible.
  • Staff Supervision & Development:
  • Maintain open and professional relations with team members, promoting a strong team spirit and provide guidance to enable staff to successfully perform in their positions.
  • Provide nursing/medical support and mentorship to other staff, providing on-the-job training where needed.
  • Project Management:
  • When available work with and support community volunteers to provide health promotion, community mobilization and awareness raising.
  • Ensure regular inventory and consumption tracking of medical drugs and supplies.
  • Work with relevant staff to ensure prompt requesting of medical drugs and supplies.
  • Coordination & Representation:
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with local communities, local government agencies and other implementing partners.
  • Monitoring & Reporting:
  • Ensure all patient consultations are documented and patient records completed.
  • Submit daily reports in a timely manner.
  • Other Duties:
  • Consistently and proactively monitor/assess the safety and security of the team; promptly reporting concerns or incidents to IRC management and liaising with community leaders and other external parties as required to maintain/enhance the security environment for IRC programs.

Educational Requirements
  • Qualified Nurse with a Nursing diploma/certificate or Qualified Paramedic with Paramedic diploma/certificate
Experience Requirements
  • At least 2 year(s)
Additional Requirements
  • Age at least 24 years
  • Only females are allowed to apply
  • At least 2 years' clinical experience /Paramedic experience in emergency maternal and child healthcare.
  • Previous experience MCH careand training in sexual gender-based violence and clinical care for sexual assault survivors (desirable)
  • Registered with local Nursing/Paramedic Council.
  • Ability to lead, train, supervise and facilitate other medical staff and community health workers in their respective tasks.
  • Ability to understand the cultural and political environment.
  • Skills to provide sensitive and appropriate medical counselling.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Must be a team player with excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work under pressure in a stressful environment, displaying patience, compassion and diplomacy.
  • Ability to be innovative, flexible, adaptive, and willingness to work in challenging situations.
  • Ability to live in challenging conditions and ability to work under difficult, high pressure situations.
  • People who are familiar with local culture and local dialects will get preference.
